The problem is WT still caters exclusively to the Arcade crowd while trying to offer a realistic environment and FM for it's planes. War Thunder was supposed to be the first high quality simulator in almost a decade since IL-2 came out to offer air combat across WW2 on an MMO level.Īircraft of WW2 don't typically work well in appeal once you reach a certain level of "balance" which is why WT flourished and WoP suffered. There are lots of games that cater to the arcade fan. Perhaps WG will one day upgrade it's outdated game engine and produce the best of both worlds. Where WG excels is it's game's simplicity and short learning curve. It's far too complex and very hard to keep track of the enemy on the battlefield.
They created the game for die hard war buffs, not the common denominator.
Where it fails is in it's lack of simplicity. To be fair, WT does have superior graphics and physics to WG games.
